Doxt-SL

Common use

Doxt-SL is an antibiotic medicine used to treat bacterial infections, such as urinary tract infection, intestines infection, respiratory system infection, eyes infection, gums infection, and sexually transmitted infections like gonorrhea and syphilis. It is a combination medicine of Doxycycline and Lactobacillus which helps to restore the balance of good bacteria in the gut.

Dosage and direction

Follow the prescribed dosage: Take the medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor, at a fixed time and with or without food, for better effectiveness.
Complete the full course: Make sure you complete the entire course of treatment, even if you start feeling better. This helps prevent the infection from coming back.

Precautions

Doxt-SL may interact with certain diseases or conditions. It is important to inform your doctor if you have any of the following:
Liver disease: The dose of Doxt-SL may need adjustment in patients with liver impairment.
Kidney disease: The dose of Doxt-SL may need adjustment in patients with severe kidney dysfunction.
Asthma: Doxt-SL may worsen symptoms in some individuals with asthma.
Porphyria: Doxt-SL should be used with caution in patients with porphyria, a group of rare genetic disorders affecting the production of heme.

Contraindications

If you are pregnant or planning to conceive, it is important to consult your doctor before taking Doxt-SL. They will assess the potential risks and benefits for you and your baby.
Consult your doctor if you are breastfeeding before taking Doxt-SL. They will determine if it is safe for you and your baby while considering any potential risks.
If you have experienced any allergic reactions to Doxycycline, lactobacillus, lactic acid bacillus, or any other medications in the past, inform your doctor before starting this medicine.
Doxt-SL should not be used in children below 8 years of age. Consult a doctor for suitable alternatives for pediatric patients.

Possible side effect

Doxt-SL may cause some side effects. Here are a few common side effects to be aware of: Nausea: You may feel a sensation of queasiness or an urge to vomit; Vomiting: You may involuntarily expel the contents of your stomach through your mouth; Diarrhea: You may experience frequent and loose bowel movements; Indigestion: You may feel discomfort or pain in your upper abdomen; Photosensitivity: Your skin may become more sensitive to sunlight, leading to sunburn easily.

Drug interaction

Certain medicines can interact with Doxt-SL and affect its effectiveness or increase the risk of side effects. It is important to inform your doctor about all the medicines you are currently taking. Interactions may occur with the following categories of drugs: Blood thinners: Warfarin, Heparin; Antacids: Aluminum hydroxide, Calcium carbonate; Seizure medications: Phenytoin, Carbamazepine; Immunosuppressants: Cyclosporin, Tacrolimus.

Missed dose

If you forget to take a dose of Doxt-SL, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue with your regular dosage schedule. Never increase your dosage without consulting your doctor.

Overdose

Taking too much Doxt-SL can lead to an overdose, which may cause severe side effects such as nausea, vomiting, and diarrhoea. If you or someone else takes too much of this product by accident, get immediate medical attention.

Storage

Store Doxt-SL in a cool and dry place below 25°C. Protect the medicine from light and moisture to maintain its effectiveness. Keep the product out of reach of children. Use the medicine before the expiry date mentioned on the packaging.
